Nomads Results

Well done to all the teams who played at the weekend, it was a great effort put in by all and was good to see so many supporters on the sidelines cheering us on! We have some slightly blurred photos to share and match report below!

Nomads 1 (14) vs Trojans 1 (29) Match Report by Nick Williams

Nomads first home game of the season started superbly and showed plenty of promise before Trojans shooting power took the game away from them in the second half.

Nomads took an early lead through two goals from home crowd favourite, Sam Rowbottom and some strong defensive play, before Trojans came back to lead 2-3 at the ten minute mark.

Sytze Bijker then leveled with a free pass and the reds regained the lead through Heather Ikwuemesi.

Trojans fought back with a long shot and a free pass of their own before the same combination of Bijker and Ikwuemesi took the score to 6-5 to Nomads.

This was to be the last time Nomads lead though as Trojans regained the lead, leveling with a running in shot and taking the lead from the penalty spot around 20 minutes into the game.

Bijker equalized with his own runner but Trojans long shooting extended their lead out to 7-9.

Ean Irwin scored from off the back for 8-9 before a flurry of Trojans goals, a warning as to what was to come, gave them a 8-12 half time lead.

Nomads did start the second half well. Bijker adding to his tally and Irwin scoring soon after to close the gap to two goals and 10-12. The game then took the pattern of two Trojans goals for one Nomads goal. Irwin from distance and an Alex Bell penalty being the contributions from Nomads to leave it 12-16.

Trojans hit their stride though as Nomads tired. The extra few milliseconds of time to get a shot away proving fatal to Nomads chances of a tight scoreline, if not a win, as they scored eight goals without reply.

Bijker scored his fifth of the game and Tamika Zilm got her first of the game but the goals kept dropping at the other end leaving the final score 14-29.

Nomads will be disappointed to not have kept the game as close as the first 25 minutes but can take heart from that early performance. Congratulations also to Nikesh for a strong performance in his first game against the multiple champions.
