1sts (25) v KV (15)

Nomads put together one of their strongest and most consistent performances of the season to defeat KV at Epsom College and move up to third in the league.

Hannah Lorrimer was the star turn with nine goals and she opened the scoring with a runner, KV levelled from the spot before Ikwuemesi and Irwin opened their accounts for 3-1.

Lorrimer ran her player again for 4-1, a tidy long shot pulled it back to 4-2 before Simon Cole scored a runner of his own for 5-2.

KV recovered, scoring three times either side of a Lorrimer long shot to leave the score 6-5 to Nomads after 20 minutes of play.

Ikwuemesi then won a penalty, calmly converted by Irwin before Lorrimer and then Zilm both scored from distance for 9-5.

The Nomads scoring was to be dominated by their girls in this game and it bodes well for tougher matches when the top male players often cancel each other out on the scoreboard.

The score went to 9-6 as KV’s solid long distance shooting kept them in the game.

Emma Cole chipped in with her own long shot and Tamika Zilm had her second soon after.

Not to be left out, Tritsarolis took the score to 12-6 with a long shot.

KV managed to pull back two goals before half time and the game was far from won at 12-8.

Nomads came out strongly in the second half, Lorrimer again from long range, a Bijker penalty, and a long shot from Irwin took the lead back to seven goals, 15-8.

Goals were then traded back and forth, Lorrimer, Irwin from the penalty spot and Lorrimer again from behind the korf left the score at 18-11.

Coach Teague used his time out to encourage the team to push on.

The girls continued to chip in, Hannah yet again and the Emma Cole from distance.

KV scored three without reply before Ikwuemesi took her goal tally to three with a runner and a long shot, 22-14.

Lorrimer scored her fourth runner and ninth of the match before the Smith siblings, Alex & Amy came on for Lorrimer and Bijker respectively.

With the game comfortable there was time for a little more action, Emma Cole with two consecutive runners, the second definitely being the fastest I’ve ever seen her run!

25-15 final score. A positive day for the first team as they continue their efforts to finish top four and be in the best possible position for the end of season play-offs.
